Slurry pumps
What is a slurry pump?
A slurry pump is a centrifugal type, specifically designed for hydraulic conveyancing of abrasive and often corrosive solid particles within a carrier fluid. The slurry pump should be of a low specific speed design, allowing slower operating speeds than conventional water pumps in order to reduce the velocity of the solid particles and thereby reducing wear rates. Slurry pump components that come in contact with the pumped medium are manufactured from wear resistant metallic or elastomeric materials, selected to suit each particular application.
Maximum reliability with Sulzer slurry pumps
Sulzer high quality slurry pumps are perfectly suited for mining, metals, fertilizers and any other applications requiring reliable performance when handling abrasive fluids. The optimised hydraulic design delivers superior performance through high efficiency impellers and volutes casings designed for streamlined slurry flow, contributing to low energy consumption subsequent total cost of ownership.
All materials in contact with the pumped fluid are selected from replaceable high-grade metal alloy or elastomeric materials. Large cross sections provide extended wear life, which can be extended by simple adjustment to internal clearances. This also helps to maintain efficiency and to increase component wear life with minimal maintenance downtime. The hydraulic components are mounted on a robust bearing frame and driven through a rigid overhung shaft and heavy duty bearings protected by isolator seals. Various gland sealing options are available, including a dynamic seal and single or double mechanical seals.
